Discover the biggest smartphone factory of the world
It has just been opened, it’s located in India and it’s the biggest smartphone production factory of the world; but, who’s the brand? Discover that here, in Apparazzis.
Samsung opens the biggest smartphone production factory of the world
We’re sure this is not a surprise and you were figuring this out. Indeed! The Korean brand Samsung has just opened its new smartphone production factory in New Delhi. The interesting thing about this is its dimensions: 129.000 square metres. The purpose? To increase the production rhythm in order to cover the emergent and growing market.
Why in India? New Delhi has been the Samsung choice because of the cheap production and labour costs; what would reduce the production costs of their terminals. The more you produce, the less it costs. Something that will help Samsung competing against its rival Xiaomi, the brand that sells the most smartphones of the world.
The numbers will double
Thanks to the big size of the factory, Samsung expects doubling the numbers of its smartphones from 68 millions units to 120 millions. Besides, bearing in mind that India is considered the second biggest smartphone market worldwide it’s logical to think that the Korean brand pretends to conquer it.
During the opening act, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi highlighted the ambitious investment that the biggest smartphone production factory in the world has supposed; 50.000 millions of rupees or what is the same, 620 millions of euros. It’s expected to help India become a world production centre.
Apparazzis, what do you think? Do you think that the project is too excessive and ambitious? Whether they get or not what they pursue, we want to wish good luck to the Samsung brand. And if they get to produce cheaper smartphones… Much better for all of us!
