San Fermin 2018 starts with a row
San Fermín is more than just party and the famous Running of the bulls. During the last years the controversy has stained the characteristic white and red of this celebration. And of course, San Fermín 2018 couldn’t be different. During the inaugural rocket -“chupinazo”- , which has been once more, the scene for political and social vindications, leaving unfortunate images for the memory. Do you want to know what happened? We’ll tell you all about that today in Apparazzis.
Controversial chupinazo in San Fermin Festival 2018
Before the famous Spanish Fiesta was even started, all eyes were on the inaugural rocket and its controversy. And as expected this year it wasn’t different. San Fermin 2018 has started with a terrible brawl full of punches.
Placards showed the displeasure with the sentence to the “Spanish Pack” -“La Manada”-, supportive texts for the young people from the Alsasua case and Basque prisoners. This was perfectly expected. However, few minutes before the party started, between the crowd that was standing in the town hall square, a small group of persons triggered the unfortunate incident.
Several young men and women started to sing the Manolo Escobar song “Que viva España” around the most radical pro-independence segment. Next to that, one of them started a fight that could have been a real pitched battle. Punching, kicking and striking out, both groups of people started a fight that ran like wildfire.
In the absence of the Ikurriña
San Fermín 2018 won’t count with the Ikurriña -the official Basque flag- in the city council balcony. Why? The judicial resolutions that annulled its positioning in Navarra’s Town Hall. However, as a novelty, an empty flagstaff has been placed in order to represent the identities that, according to the Mayor “aren’t recognised yet”.
Ran like wildfire
In just few minutes, the fight became viral in social media. Again, a valuable content that captures exactly what happened in that moment. We have already said this: if it’s news, is worthy.
